BEIJING, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

GREETINGS FROM SPACE STATION

The Shenzhou-15 astronauts Fei Junlong, Deng Qingming and Zhang Lu sent their Spring Festival greetings from China's Tiangong space station in a video released by the China Manned Space Agency on New Year's Eve.

The trio, dressed in blue jumpsuits with dark red patterns, each held a sticker showing their own calligraphy. Two of the stickers were written with the Chinese character "fu", meaning good luck, and the other sending good luck wishes from Tiangong.

GREETINGS FROM LUNAR ROVER

The China National Space Administration released a group of new photos from the country's lunar rover Yutu-2, together with its good wishes for all Chinese people, ahead of the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Rabbit.

The photos showed the wheel track left by the rover, some rocks and a small impact crater on the lunar surface.

COVID-19 VACCINES

China has reported declining numbers of fever patients and critical COVID-19 cases, as life and work rapidly returned to normal in the country ahead of the Lunar New Year.

The number of fever patients peaked on Dec. 23, 2022 and fell by 94 percent on Jan. 17 from the peak daily figure. The number of severe COVID-19 cases in hospitals peaked on Jan. 5 and fell by 44.3 percent on Jan. 17, according to Guo Yanhong, an official with the National Health Commission (NHC), at a recent press conference.

China's COVID-19 vaccines have played a vital role in helping the country pull through the pandemic in a controlled way.
