BOOSTER SHOT FOR COVID-19

Chinese health experts have urged the public to get a booster shot for COVID-19 to protect against the Omicron variant.

The experts said antibodies can increase rapidly and maintain high levels after people get a booster shot for COVID-19. As the Omicron variant can make the vaccine less effective, it is particularly necessary for people to get a booster shot.

TOP 10 AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE ADVANCES

The Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) on Wednesday unveiled the country's 10 most significant advances in the field of agricultural sciences in 2021.

A study on the prevention and control of bemisia tabaci topped the list. The study revealed how the insect overcomes the defenses of its host, providing new ideas for the development of precise green control technology for bemisia tabaci.

INVENTION PATENTS

China has witnessed continuous growth in the number of invention patents over the past year, the country's top intellectual property regulator said on Wednesday.

In 2021, there were nearly 3.6 million valid invention patents in China, with 2.7 million held on the Chinese mainland. The average ownership of high-value invention patents reached 7.5 patents per 10,000 people, up 1.2 over the previous year, according to data released by the National Intellectual Property Administration at a press conference.
