Former Hangzhou Spark flex support Jeong-ho "MCD" Lee apologized Monday to fans and the Overwatch League audience for making xenophobic comments toward a Chinese player.
The Spark terminated the 23-year-old South Korean player's contract on Aug. 24.
"I sincerely apologize to everyone who were offended and disappointed by the inappropriate statement I made during my stream a few days ago," MCD wrote in a TwitLonger post.
"My words were extremely careless and inconsiderate. I am ashamed of myself for being so unprofessional, and greatly regret my actions. I understand that my language and actions have let down many people and am extremely sorry. I promise this will never happen in the future and will act professionally not only as a gamer but as a person."
The Spark parted ways with MCD after a clip surfaced that included him cursing at a Chinese player following a failed fight. He reportedly told Zhou "XRAY" Xiyan, in English, "Chinese, (expletive) you."
The Spark are owned by Bilibili, a Chinese video streaming platform.
